This is an experimental project done for “This Town Needs” which is a brand and event venue to help distinct artists hosting concerts. WILDSTYLE Records is one of the biggest music label in Hong Kong and they are well known for creating trap rap music. It is going to be a 2 days hip hop music festival which targets people aging between 20-35 as well as hip hop lovers. The objective of the event is to promote local hip hop culcure and provide crazy nights in this fast paced city.
Most of the trap rap lyrics talk about pornography, gambling and drugs. Supercars, Bikini ladies and gold chains can be commonly seen in foreign rap music videos. In this project, i want to mainly focus working on Canto trap rap. Therefore, I try to apply jade (gold chain), which represents luxury, smoking of opium (drugs) to present Chinese rap style.
